At Playgrounds for Palestine UK we believe in the power of play to promote creativity and learning, improve physical and mental health, and bring children, families, and communities together. Buying play equipment, such as chalk, will give the gift of play to a child living in Palestine, where children may have experienced war, the demolition of their houses, or the arrest of loved ones. There has been a wealth of research into how play opportunities allow children to build resilience and to heal after traumatic events.
Whilst chalk won’t resolve the impact of these events on a child’s wellbeing, it provides respite and an opportunity to play and exist as a child, away from the adult conflicts surrounding them.
